Travel South America With the lush mountains and crystalline ocean waters South America is a great place to travel. There are a dozen countries and several islands that call South America home and every one of them is a great vacation destination.

Passport

You will need to get a passport if you don’t already have one. Visit a professional photographer for your passport photo and your local post office for your passport. Be prepared to pay a fee for each one.

Language

The languages spoken in South America are Portuguese, Spanish and English. Most South Americans who work in the tourist industry speak English, but you should bring a translation book or guide just in case. Then when you find yourself not being able to communicate with someone you can pull out your translation book and at least get your message across. However, if you would like to take it a step further you can take classes in Spanish and Portuguese to speak the native South American language.

Historical Site in South Africa

If you have an interest in history than a place like Machu Picchu in Peru might be just what you’re looking for. This is a pre-Columbian Inca site built in honor of an emperor and regarded by many as one of the new “wonders of the world.” It is an utterly beautiful ruin that will take your breath away.

Party in South Africa

If you want to party you’ll want your visit to South America to coincide with the fabulous Carnival in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. This is a festival held in the same spirit as Mardi Gras, a boisterous event celebrating giving up sins for the season of Lent.

Tango in Argentina

Argentina is the second largest country in South America and is very popular for its greenery and great shopping in Buenos Aires. Dancers love to visit here since it is one of the homes of the tango.

South America is a vast continent with a rich history dating back thousands of years and has become a modern cradle of culture and economy. The people here are friendly and the weather is certainly lovely. Melt the stress away with a fun and relaxing vacation in South America.
